LEFT THEM BITING 2/22/06

I had a great group of guys today from the Birmingham area down for some fishing action. Met up with Bob, Willis, Mike and Bill around 7:00 AM. We headed straight to the Oak River Area that had been producing the last few trips. The Bite was slow and to my surprise the fish a bit small several throwbacks. We moved up and down the river until we found some really nice trout willing to take our baits. The trout were coming in the boat steady for awhile I could not net them fast enough. Then a few boats moved in and the bite slowed to a stop. Off again after a few more stops we located some fish holding off ledge in 5 ft of water. The Pattern was to throw up in the shallows and pull the bait off the ledge where the hungry trout and reds would nail the bait. Mike seemed to have the hot rod today he was stroking the trout pretty good, I think the rest of the crew was getting a little tired of hearing, are yall going to help me out here. Well we left them biting at that spot the guys said they had plenty of fish and were ready to head in. Titelined plastics were the bait of choice today any color but the trout did not want anything to do with corks. Great day and lots of fun. Oh almost forgot to mention Bob’s 100 lb fish he almost caught. He was hooked up with a huge beast of a fish but we could not get him in the boat he finally came off never even got a look at him. You know when they get away I told Bob you can make them as big as you like, So Bob said had to be at least 100lbs. HA HA Thanks to Capt Billy for putting me with this group today.
