Sabine
Lake Fishing Report
Sabine Lake fishing has been
great for the for the past 2 weeks. The brown shrimp are still moving
in the system. We now are catching trout weighing 4 lbs under the
birds when the wind will let us fish. Most of the bird action has
been on the north end of the lake. Some shad have showed, mixed in
with the shrimp. The best bite is during the morning. We are fishing
the mussel flats and shell with 1/16 jig heads. Morning glory has
been the best plastic. Also, red shad are catching nice trout along
the Louisiana shore line. Mullet are stating to move on the flats
and the bigger trout are being caught on slow sinking baits. Flounder
are showing up there too. The bit is starting to get better but has
not quite got going yet. We are still catching a lot of small flounder.
I have been checking every day for the flounder run which may start
any day now. Redfish are showing each day under the birds and also
on the louisiana shore line.
