Strictly fishing charters have been somewhat slow for me the last couple of weeks. I have been running more duck hunting trips than fishing trips. I have however been doing a little fishing though.

Redfish are still good in South Bay and the surrounding area when the tides are right. Almost any bait you give the fish are working at this time I have heard. But of course I have been concentrating on trout more so than redfish. In the last week we have received better tides which has improved the fishing with more current. My trout fishing areas have been in the back bays such as Port, Nueces, Copano, and St. Charles. The "nastier" days with clouds, rain & wind have been yielding the better catches over scattered shell and mud while wade fishing for those of us willing to get out there in these kind of conditions. I have been catching some really solid trout up to 25" in these kind of conditions. The "blue bird" days are nice to be out on the water, but fewer fish and less quality have been caught on these kind of days.

On pretty days try drifting the deeper water over shell in 5-7 feet of water. On another note, I will be running hog & javelina hunting trips in February thru March. So if you're interested give me a call and I'm sure I can get you worked into a hunt. These hunts are fun and my ranches have plenty of game to be had.
