Hello
Everybody,
The latest front has drop the water temperature to the fifties, but we will begin
to warm up on Wednesday. The water has disappeared making the flats the shallowest
I think I have ever seen them. As most of you know, this low water condition
has stacked the red fish up making for some outstanding catches. Shrimp is the
bait of choice; however, soft plastics will produce boxes of reds as well. Wading
is also the
preferred method, but drifting will catch fish as well. Since the cold front
the trout in the flats have been very sluggish and some days a little hard to
locate. There are some other bays, however, that are producing nice boxes of
trout. They seem to be holding just off the shell reef out a bit where the shell
meets the mud.
Again, soft-plastics are the key here. The trout
are ranging from just keeper size to 25 inches with the occasional
big one. Overall, fishing is still good and once the weather warms
back up, which it will very soon, things will stabilize and the catching
will continue. One thing about fishing; it always more fun catching!
Until next time: Go Fishin!! |
