Fishing Report 02/25/06

If you don't want your arm's tired and stretched out don't throw a bait into the ship channel over beside Ingleside. The big drum are running and are biting every bait insight. They are tons of fun to catch, but please remember to deflate them. They fight so hard coming up they pump themselves up with air and you need to stick them to release them or they can't go back down and float away and die.

I've caught them on dead shrimp and cracked crab this past week. This past heavy norther spooked the reds for a few days and keep a lot of fishermen home, but the reds are back and are hitting on dead shrimp and cut mullet. Live mullet and mud minnows have been hard to find lately, but the shrimp has been good bait this week. I have found redfish in South Bay, Morris Cummings Cut, Outside Beach and in the channel on the other side of the bridge going to Port Aransas.

Good catching to you.

Capt. Charlie Newton
