Spring
has sprung early this year which mean higher tides and birds. This
relates to more and much bigger fish. We have been fishing the mud
dumps on the west side of the lower laguna madre in the early morning,
located just 15 to 20 minutes north of Port Isabel. Depending on
the conditions, we use top waters when calm, changing to bait when
the wind starts blowing. We move 100 yards or so, west, and worm
for trout in the deeper green water.
Moving east, we have been landing limits of school
trout, using all methods, working from the south towards ga swell
flats. Keep on going all the way to three islands for reds if the
winds have not come up, and tie on a red worm! Moving further south,
the Mangrove snapper are thick around the bridges, not to mention
mid-size black drum. Don't forget, Snook will be moving into South
Bay along the south end very soon!!!!!!
